Development of High-Tech Enterprises Further Strengthened

The high-tech enterprises in Haidian have maintained a good momentum of rapid development. According to the statistics of Haidian Science Park in the first quarter of 2005, income from technology, industry and software trade industry, new materials industry, optical, mechanical and electronic integration industry and energy environmental protection industry, which contribue most to the district's economic development, totaled 14.276 billion yuan, accounting for 35% of the Park¡¯s total and up by 6.6% year on year. The growth rate of those four industries was over 30% on average and 41.7%, 37.3%, 30.9% and 73.3% respectively. The rapid growth of those industries has become the main driving force for the increase of income from technology, industry and trade.

 

The total number of high-tech enterprises in Haidian District ranks first in the whole city. At present, in Haidian Science Park only, there are more than 14,000 high-tech enterprises, including renowned domestic enterprises such as Lenovo, Founder, and Unisplendour, etc., and account for 70% of the city¡¯s total. Those high-tech enterprises have become the economic mainstay of the region and its main capital economy. The Zhongguancun Software Park and Yongfeng High-Tech Industrial Base are recognized as the National Base for Software Industry and National Base for Transformation and Industrialization of New Material Achievements respectively. Tsinghua University Science Park is the only ¡°A type¡± national university science and technology park. There are 39 listed companies in Haidian District, 47% of the municipality¡¯s total.
